Snoring might seem like an insignificant problem to some, but those are people who haven’t had to sleep next to someone who is snoring the night away. This is the most obvious effect snoring can have, affecting the person next to the snorer, but it can also be a very serious medical problem for the one who is snoring, reducing the intake of air during sleep and leading to obstructive sleep apnea which is a very serious condition. The effects of this condition are many and there is no need to go into them too much.
Luckily, these days there are many stop snoring devices that might alleviate the effects and the symptoms of snoring.
The first and the most common devices are anti-snoring pillows, or orthopedic pillows as they are also known. They work in such a way that they coreect the position in which the person snoring sleeps and thusly reducing the snoring.
Jaw supporters are also a very common stop snoring devices and they help by supporting the jaw and keeping it shut. This way, the airways in the nasal and mouth cavity stay open and the person stops snoring.
One of the more drastic devices is Continuous Positive Airway Pressure. It is in fact a mask that is worn over the mouth and the nose of the person who is snoring and it continuously pumps air in through the nostrils and makes sure that the person gets enough oxygen during the night.
Pillar procedure is perhaps the most effective stop snoring device and it has to be implanted by a doctor. It is inserted without any serious surgery, with no cutting of the palate. It can be done under local anesthesia and in time, these implants make the soft palate more firm and thus stop snoring.
